We loved paper dolls when we were girls and Betsy McCall was a favorite (she was first introduced in 1951). Now Robert Tonner has brought back this childhood friend and envisions a collection of dresses reminiscent of little girl styles from the 1950s-60s to fit 14” Betsy McCall. 10” Ann Estelle & friends are the creations of well-loved artist Mary Engelbreit portrayed lovingly by Robert Tonner. plans special dresses for these girls using colors inspired by the art of Mary Engelbreit to honor all of the bright fun! It was love at first sight when we saw 11” Bitty Bethany by Helen Kish! And then a friend introduced us to 10.5” Candy by Heidi Plusczok!! Around the same time, 10” Bonnie by Dianna Effner for Boneka came into our lives. These little girls inspire Doll Fancier to shop for the prettiest fabrics, lace, ribbon, and buttons—all scaled to their size, of course! We will never forget the day the first of the 16” White Balloon-Helen Kish Four Seasons dolls arrived at the studio. lifted her out of her box and HUGGED her.
